Wednesday, April 27, 2016 - I've had a love affair with Thomas Pico's Chablis for a number of years and upon opening the entry level '09 I'm reminded why. I get a crystalline minerality that's not only super intense but so pure along with an aroma of wet stone and earth. The '09 is peaking now and starting to decline. I know this because after being open an hour it's starting to let off a whisper of oxidation and is turning a bit blousy. The palate here is so balanced with mouth watering acid and a deft touch of oak along with some tertiary oxidation and a finish that takes you on a stroll along a jasmin lined sidewalk. I'm not sure if I have another '09 Vent d'Ange but if I find another in the cave I'll be sure to drink it by Spring, 2017.
