Friday, September 9, 2016 - Tasted non-blind in a 7 person dinner tasting against: '11 Achával-Ferrer Malbec Finca Mirador, '09 Cheval des Andes, '05 Montes Purple Angel, '11 Fabre Montmayou Grand Vin, Vistalba, '08 Catena Zapata 'Catena Alta' Cabernet Sauvignon, '13 Chakana Estate Selection Malbec, Lujan de Cuyo and an '03 Clos Apalta. This along with the '11 showed well. Medium big-bodied with relatively fresh palate of red/black fruits, bramble and medium oak shadings and spice notes. The '03 & the '11 were initially very similar in flavor profile with the '03 showing less length after an hour but held up surprisingly well. Not a great value but tasty nonetheless.
