Tuesday, March 19, 2019 - Medium ruby with a little burnt orange rim separation. Poured into a Burgundy glass and let sit for about an hour. After about 10 min the barnyard funk blew off. Once opened up the nose has dried flowers, coffee, crushed overripe berries, mint, plums. Light bodied there is still a lip smacking acidity with strawberries, tart cherry, pomegranate, smoke, juniper berry, graphite. Longer lasting than the tanins are a bit of heat.
Probably was never a complex or intriguing wine but most likely had a deeper offering of what is currently present at 3-5 years old. I don’t see a reason to wait.
