Saturday, December 25, 2021 - Popped and poured. The 2008 Caravina pours a deep garnet color with a nearly opaque core and moderate staining of the tears. Some sediment appears in the glass. The wine has good intensity. On the nose, beautifully ripe dark fruits, tobacco, leather, pie crust, and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (though fairly well integrated) and medium+ acid. The fruit set is confirmed with cassis, figs, dates and blackberries with tobacco, leather, and baking spices. Beautifully balanced. Fully mature, these should drink well for at least another 5-7 years.
