Monday, October 29, 2012 - Pop/pour. The cork was soaked all the way through and gave off aromas of port. Fortunately, the wine seemed unaffected. On the nose, dark fruit, wood with a slight cedar tinge and surprisingly something that comes across faintly as eucalyptus. On the palate, medium heavy in body and surprisingly rich. Nicely balanced and largely resolved acidity keeps this lively. My sense is that this is drinking at or near its peak. Whether the cork contributed to an earlier evolution, I'm not sure.
