2010 Château Pontet-Canet

Saturday, February 13, 2021 - Opened 6 hours before dinner and poured from the bottle. Paired with filet mignon and garlic butter seared scallops. The bottle was singing from the first glass. Claret in color with currant and cedar on the nose. Even though it’s relatively young, the wine is harmoniously integrated. Blueberries and lively fruits on the front end with a 30sec finish that ends with subtle and pleasant cigar box and leather notes. The tannins are still there but not overwhelming. Laughable that this is still classified as a 5th growth Bordeaux.
