98 Points

Thursday, March 18, 2010 - Wine dinner at the Urban Farmer, Portland, OR. 18 wines drunk amongst 18 people. The Insignia was tasted against a 1999 Quilceda Creek and a 1997 Betz Alpha. All were decanted back into the bottle after vinturi and recorked. All were served at 65 degrees. The Insignia was clearly the WOTF. Beautiful nose of mixed berries and a finish of 40+ seconds. This is a complete wine that demonstrates winemaking and blending at its finist. The integration of acids, tannins, and fruit was complete and several at the table had philosphical moments over this wine, which was served with grass fed, locally raised ribeye. This won't (can't) get any better than it is, so if you're fortunate to have some, find the right moment and drink it up! (Note: The QC and Betz were also great, they just didn't rise to the level of the Insignia for this tasting).
