Tuesday, January 12, 2016 - Westchester Wine School - Premium Wine Tasting (Bar Lees, Mamaroneck, NY): Drank at WWS tasting. Crimson red in color, showing some bricking. Lots of funk on the nose, which I found off-putting. I hadn't had this wine in awhile, and it's definitely on the downward trend. Some dark fruit still there, chocolate and forest floor too, along with a decent acidity level. Tannins mostly resolved. I recall this wine being a powerful, lush but well-balanced pour. Now, it seemed a bit tired and faded. I didn't love it, though several at our tasting very much enjoyed it. I still have some in the cellar so will have to revisit soon, hoping this bottle was just slightly tainted.
