Saturday, May 17, 2008 - Insignia is one of our absolute favorite wines. When my wife and I open a bottle together, you would think that the comments would be "this is great", "amazing", etc. Instead, you will hear comments like "don't touch my glass!", "don't be taking an extra pour when I'm not looking!", or my favorite "get me a straw so I can drink the last drops without getting any sediment". Suffice to say, this is really really good stuff. On this particular bottle, the nose exploded out of the glass with tons of black cherry and current scents with new oak and the flavors were extremely smooth and perfectly balanced. You can truly call it an absolute pleasure on the palate. We did not decant this and there was really no need to. This vintage is in it's prime drinking window now but it is so well made that I think that window will be open for a long time. You could drink it now or you could drink it several years from now. Whenever you do, you will definitely enjoy it. Thanks for the bottle Denny!
