Tuesday, June 1, 2004 - ITB(?) dinner at Oceanaire (Seattle, WA, USA): As if we really needed a fourth bottle, Lorne ordered this at the last minute off the list, so we popped and poured with the briefest of decanting sessions. This wine was surprisingly complex with a spicy and lightly herbal nose that showed cocoa and a hint of dusty minerality. The palate was rich and complex, much more delicate, tight and complex than the 2001 Pride Merlot tasted alongside. This had very little time to open, and as consequence it mostly showed tight and tart red fruit with cranberry, black cherry, raspberry, and red currant. This one needed an hour or two in the decanter to really shine, but it was awfully tasty.
