Friday, August 22, 2008 - Double decanted 24hrs ahead. A nose of precise black fruit with just the right amount of sweet cassis, cedar, mint and earthy notes. Fabulous texture on the plate with pure black fruits and vanilla. A grippy finish of excellent length that shows briary black fruit, a little dried leaf and that mintiness again. Appealing for its balance of ripeness and structure. Like many 1999 California Cabs, the once fierce tannins have softened. Drinking well now but 4-5 years will hopefully add a little extra secondary interest.
