Tuesday, June 8, 2021 - Cherries and raisons, almonds, walnuts, iodine, sherry, cheese rind, burnt caramel, chocolate, coffee, leather, woodsy notes (imagine antique lacquered wood), and mushrooms. Juicy finish with faint hints of honey, orange peel, and some tannin. Very nice, though if I’m being picky, I’d like a touch more acid (admittedly, I got more pop out of this on day 2). This is good—mabye not Gravner good—and worth buying again.

Better in the Riedel glass than the Zalto glass and definitelyi needed a chill (serve colder than a red wine). It required about an hour of air to open up, which is less than other orange wines I’ve had. Better on day 2

Ok match with roasted chicken with olives, but wow, this was a perfect match—and I’m talking one of the best ever food and wine pairings I’ve ever come up with—with Kermani Pistachio Khoresh from my Persian Cookbook. The lamb broth, pistachios, dill, and saffron were just the right thing for this. The wine complimented the subtle sweetness and exotic spices of the stew very well. I was as happy as could be with the combination. I really love Orange wines for their affinity with food.
