Saturday, December 15, 2012 - This is a magical Spätlese. Stony slate and bright, honeyed apple come through with amazing purity on the nose. This clocks in at 7.5% alcohol, but the impression of sweetness in this wine is very, very restrained. Terrific acidity is present, but not at all obtrusive or out of balance. The palate balances fruit and rock perfectly. The finish is achingly long, firm but somehow still tender and elegant. What a beautiful wine.
