89 Points

Sunday, May 20, 2012 - This is my first experience with aged California Chardonnay and it is pretty spectacular given how old it is. The color has changed from a pale straw color to a gold/copper and the primary bright acidity/minerality on the nose has been completely replaced by hazlenut, baked bread, and savory herbal notes. This is probably too old for most people to drink (American palates love young, fruit-filled, vibrant wines, but this was very delicious for the price (I pad $45) and realy shows off its pedigree. I would have never mistaked this for new world chardonnay. The short finish, and lack of depth (I'm sure due to age) on the palate brought my score down 2-3 points. Drink NOW.
