Friday, August 5, 2011 - Pungent aromas of musk, smoke and animale come through immediately, showing impressive intensity and punch. There are also stony elements with the dark red cherry fruits with again, meat juices, salted beef jerky and some leafy notes. Reasonably tannic (especially for vintage) but taut and compact in the mouth, though somewhat average in length. This is showing age and while the tannin is fully intact, there is sufficient secondary flavors at work that offer very good interest at present.
