Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - Supper and Drinks at Deep Sea Garoupa (Yuan Wei Deep-Sea Garoupa, Serangoon Road): Interesting stuff. This was a decent little Chardonnay coming out of Tuscany. The nose was a bit tight, with smoky mineral notes surrounding touches of ripe lemons and green apples, maybe a hint of flowers. Not very developed, but pretty nice. The palate had a nice round richness to it, with a sweet yellow fruited attack and midpalate, and a slightly honeyed finish where more smoky spice drifted out. Fleshy, but well balanced, maybe a bit soulless, but this was very pleasant nonetheless and it should improve with time. A decent effort.
