On the nose, my wife thought cake but I didn't get that though there is a hint of sweetness that's not borne out on the palate. Really rich in the mouth but pulls it off without cloying, unlike some other top-end cali syrahs (e.g. Alban, for me). Probably shouldn't have pulled this but was having rack of lamb and wanted to try this.
