‘16 Paleo vs ‘08 Duemani
The Paleo delivered a 30 second KO. The Duemani had a glass jaw.
Opened and into the decanter. Lots of dirt on the cork. Bricking on the edges. At first, it smelled like an old musty gym shoe. Clearly airtime was required.
Poured a quick glass after about 20 minutes in the nose was all earth— dirt, cedar, graphite, pencil lead, dried plums, walnut spice cake, molasses. The primary notes are gone.
On the palate, This isn’t giving much and is giving even less fruit —let’s see what an hour in the decanter will do. It did nothing, zilch, nada.
This reminded we of an old BDX that lost its fruit. The two prior notes appear on point. This bottle confirmed my suspicions that these hit prime time at 5-10 yrs and fall off thereafter. YMMV
