Thursday, May 31, 2012 - Dark ruby, fairly thin. A pretty classic nose of ripe cherry, saline, tobacco, mushrooms, licorice and - sadly - rubber and some toasty oak. Medium bodied with juicy fruit and solid acidity. Vibrant and fairly refreshing but also somewhat uninspiring with its spicy sour cherry and licorice (and to some extent oak) dominated flavor profile. Long, dry, not totally clean finish. At proper temperature has that classic high drinkability, decent focus and great lift. When too warm, gets hot and disjointed. Didn't really match all that well with a slightly spicy sausage, tasting way too sweet. Overall a pretty mediocre CC that lacks balance.
