Saturday, September 2, 2017 - This is a producer who's recent vintages I've loved (2010+), but I have no experience with wines with any age. The 1999 is a classic and elegant Monforte that hits all the right notes --- dried sour cherry, dried florals, some modest tar notes, old leather -- in a balanced frame. Mid weight with moderate concentration, fine grippy tannins and good tension. Should hold and possibly improve with more cellar time. A prototypical and benchmark example of traditional adolescent Nebbiolo.
