2011 Tahbilk Marsanne

Community Tasting Note

Does not like this wine:

65 Points

Saturday, July 29, 2017 - Flat pineapple juice. No that sounds pleasant, this has lost all freshness and vibrancy turning into something better poured down the sink. Makes me wonder about my cellaring conditions given the review below was made only a month earlier. 2011 was a shocking vintage and maybe the winemaker's magic has finally succumbed to this. Remaining bottle is buried somewhere, hiding like some lurker in the dark. I WILL FIND YOU...

11/17/2017 9:15:00 PM - Very harsh. Just had a bottle, I haven't really had Marsanne before that I remember but. I am a fan of aged Semillon. It has certainly lost the vibrancy and citrusy acidity of its youth but has developed into that honey oaky buttery stage. I actually quite enjoyed it. I am hoping you just had a bad bottle.

J Oliver had a drink by 2016 for the original release and wasn't impressed (84pts), and I haven't found that last bottle to confirm if it was just a random nasty bottle issue. My previous bottles were fine but nothing of substance that i can remember.

11/18/2017 11:36:00 PM - It was a museum release. Normally these would be bottled at the same time and maybe relabelled. I would be seriously disappointed if it was a different blend. Not sure why the descrepancy. I have had an individual bottle which is completely out of spec from others but it doesn't explain the other reviews.
