Friday, May 8, 2020 - Opaque purple-black color. Saturated aromas and flavors of black fruit, black olive tapenade, sage, bacon and baked fennel. This wine has evolved beautifully--the little sample sip I took after pulling the cork to confirm the wine's readiness for drinking almost made me cry. It was SO good. Drinks optimally right out of the bottle (no sediment) but it will hold here for years to come. Very different from the '13 Contender's red fruit (which we had the night before). In fact, in taste, weight and every other way, it's a closer relative to the '15 Two Vintners Syrah we also tasted this week.
