The wine was very smoky, with sweet, ripe, bruised apple, almond and brioche flavours. It had rather coarse mousse, but ripe, smooth acidity, with good length of the pleasantly bitter finish. The broad, medium-bodied champagne drank reasonably well, but had benefited from a little more freshness.
