Thursday, March 25, 2004 - I split a bottle with Dan at his cost, $62.50 was my portion. Gorgeous color, amber at the edge but otherwise a brilliant garnet. The nose shows cedar with a very high-pitched, almost mint like edge of camphor. With time in the glass a hint of iron creeps in as this starts to come apart. The palate is surprisingly youthful, still showing some structure with sweet cedar but an otherwise somewhat monolithic character. This is a very nice bottle but it also lacks punch and complexity. I would imagine it is drinking past peak at this point, although the bottle in question was in very good shape.
