Tuesday, February 18, 2020 - Dinner at Margeaux Brasserie (Chicago, IL): These old Ducrus always pick up notes that are evocative of TCA; they generally aren't corked, but they're definitely pretty dirty and close to it. This was showing its age, and not too well, with some iron oxide flavours on the back end. A little charmless and hard, kind of like Gruaud Larose, to be honest. The fruit is subtle, and if you aren't really looking for it, it's not there. Frankly, just not the kind of old Bordeaux I like.
