Thursday, May 31, 2012 - The wine is medium ruby in color, with notes of ripened plums and black cherries on the nose, followed up by tar, old leather, black pepper, and a nice streak of rocky minerality in the upper register. I catch a bit of alcoholic heat on the nose as well. In the mouth, this CdP shows flavors of raw meats, with a more tart fruit profile of black cherry and pomegranate, tobacco, supported by beautifully integrated tannins, excellent balance, leading into a medium-to-long finish that shows suppleness, a velvety mouthfeel, incredible elegance, and the hint of what is to come with this incredible effort. Will drink nicely for 10+ years, IMHO.
