Saturday, April 21, 2007 - From memory. Had with dinner at Lalimes, so don't have detailed recollection. But, overall impression is that this was fabulous. One of the best wines I've had to date. Nice, strong nose. Great blackberry, rasberry and boysenberry fruit, spice and a tangy meatiness on the palate. Well balanced. Powerful and elegant. Good grip, chewy, but tannins were supple and fine. Beautiful, silky texture. Not earthy, per se, but some minerals, definitely a sense that this came from the soil (as opposed to just a barrel. . ) Haven't had a lot of chateauneufs, but this is far and away the best I've had yet. I imagine this wine was young, and will get better with time, but it was wonderful right now. Didn't feel closed at all.
