Good grip, chewy, but tannins were supple and fine. Beautiful, silky texture. Not earthy, per se, but some minerals, definitely a sense that this came from the soil (as opposed to just a barrel. . ) Haven't had a lot of chateauneufs, but this is far and away the best I've had yet. I imagine this wine was young, and will get better with time, but it was wonderful right now. Didn't feel closed at all.
