93 Points

Saturday, December 12, 2020 - I might even be tempted to give this a 94. A medium to light red brick color. Immediately on the nose is classic, old world CDP. Warm stewed prunes and pitted fruit, grass, pipe tobacco, leather, dust, cooking spices, faint hint of blackberry with a streak of the alcohol that does dissipate over time. On the palate there is an immediate taste of raisin and savory stewed fruit. The sweetness no doubt has seen better days, but that is to this wine's advantage. I would even say there is a bit of tanginess which truly is enjoyable. The body is a bit too much on the light side for me as this would be an absolute killer if it had a little more depth. Do decant.
