We drank it without food although my immediate thought was "this would be really great with a meal". Only thing holding this back slightly is the nose which isn't overly expressive. Theres a touch of herbs in there with a mild red fruit aroma but not something you notice far from you glass. That said if it had that as well it would be up with my all time favorites.
