Saturday, November 25, 2017 - Opened 2 h before dinner - no decant. High neck fill which is impressive given the age. The cork was quite tight in the bottle. Now 3 h after opening and wine warmed to nearly room temp. Aromas of honeysuckle, dried apples, wet wool, hint of cinnamon and spices. Palate has a nice weight but elegant. Fresh, tart apples, wet wool on palate with a nice long finish that ends with a rounded grapefruit pith flavor. Palate lacks some complexity and isn't equal to the nose. However, impressed with the freshness, depth and persistence of flavors. Wine becomes more rounded and balanced with time and air. Certainly better now than when initially opened. I'll happily accept this wine anytime.
