This was actually in a nice place. I often find that Beaucastel in the "teen years" can taste a little too much like stewed prunes to me. This felt like it was just coming out of that. Some light secondary notes of earth, leather, pipe tobacco, and smoked meats dominate the nose as plum, fig, and mushroom lead into dried red fruits on a long finish. Outstanding...and a wine worth looking in on at this point from a half bottle. I would assume this can still comfortably age 10-15+ years in the 375ml format with good storage.
