Sunday, July 24, 2022 - Last bottle of this vintage sadly... the nose was exquisite; pure essence of sangiovese; initially started out with leather, earth, dried violet, cherry, and herbs. A beautiful mature nose. With about 45 minutes of air however the leather and earth largely faded and the fruit and floral notes became fresher and more vibrant with a more mineral tinged spine. The palate was delightful from the start and while it definitely became fresher and more mineral driven, it was always pure seduction and pleasure. Good depth and exquisite balance. Montevertine rarely disappoints.
