Friday, February 23, 2024 - Nose: Opens up with a deep raspberry, pencil and spice perfume, and develops deep kirsch and plum notes as well. An advancing nose, but retains a delightful freshness about it.

Palate: Enters with waves of blueberry, black plum, raspberry liquor and spice notes. Glorious graphite, clove, cinnamon, and Chinese five spice notes in the mid palate are supported by a nicely weighted texture. Velvety feel gives the palate seriousness that is freshened by acidity and drive that perks up the secondary nuances of leather and library books.

Finish: Lengthy and spicy today with a fully resolved tannin profile. Elegant and fine in the end.

This is a wine that was made by Randy Dunn in the early days of Livingston Moffett. The vineyard was panted in 1969 on St. George roots stock so this wine is from mature vines. Unfortunate that this site was replanted as these old St. George plantings are proving to have long life and balance that is hard to comeby in Napa today.
