Sunday, June 6, 2010 - This being D-Day, pulling an American wine that speaks of the (previous) freedom loving character of America seemed almost mandatory. I had no idea of how appropriate this wine would be.

A bright yellow color, but not at all golden. It speaks of youthfulness and freshness without being overdone or overblown at all. The bouquet is all about golden apple, lime, mineral, buttered toast, anise and a touch of vanilla. If you looked at Wekipedia under the definition of “balance” you would see a picture of this wine. Add to that the roundness, richness and fullness of this wine and you have a most satisfying wine. 14.9% alc., and it does not show one bit. The balance of this wine is impeccable. You would never know this wine has this level of alcohol. With grilled salmon with basil butter and side fo potato gratin. The wine is an incredible pairing, that brings out the intensity of the butter, the basil and the fennel. Highly Recommended.
