Saturday, January 19, 2019 - Popped and poured. This is a very-dark, almost black, wine, one with significant tongue-decimating capacity. I got some significant bottle sediment toward the end, so decanting is recommended. On the nose, I get deep blueberry essence, roasted black fruits, and ash. In the mouth, this is rich and dense, with some slightly sweet elements, and a finish on which the dark fruits linger with some remaining intermixed tannin. Overall, this is a wine in full Beast Mode. Although it touches some Port-like elements at moments, it is an honest and sincere wine. This is a solid mixture of grape, land, and year, as it should be. 90 points.
