Tuesday, April 27, 2021 - Seventeen years post vintage? No way! Let’s hear it for the power of screw cap, allowing a wine that cost me less than $20 on release to positively evolve for close to two decades, with no demise in sight. The aromatics are gorgeous, with a blast of freshly sliced clementine orange, and just a whiff of clover honey. The freshness of 2004 is still in full force, allowing this Spätlese to remain light on its feet. It remains ethereal through the mid-palate, until it picks up a creamy back-palate note that is on sustain. Lovely expression from a classic site.
