Saturday, December 10, 2016 - Deep, opaque ruby (unfiltered and unfined) with some garnet on the rim. The nose is clean, with ripe black fruit (blackberry, plum), ripe blueberries, herbs, alcohol and a hint of vanilla and baking spices. The nose is medium in intensity and developing. The palate is dry, but with a fair amount of fruit, balanced by medium (+) acidity. The alcohol is high at 15.8%. The tannins are medium to medium (+) and polished. The flavors are consistent with the nose, with the addition of some savory spice and licorice. This is full-bodied, with medium (+) flavor intensity and medium (+) length on the slightly bitter finish. Overall, this is a nicely balanced, age-worthy wine. It is drinking well now, but has plenty of life left. A good value.
