Monday, July 11, 2016 - Final bottle from a half case purchased in 1999, climate-controlled storage ever since. Immaculate condition, level into neck. It is wonderful to see how two decades of ageing have gently brought this wine to its peak. Mature but lively appearance, youthful for its twenty years; lifted nose of spices, roses and violets, red meat, earth and crushed red berries, ever-so-slightly funky and gravelly; the palate is clean and cool but with a lovely natural sweetness from the ripe fruit, transparent and elegant, relatively restrained for Brane-Cantenac, medium weight, silky-smooth but with appropriate tannic grip; complete finish, hint of black tea, very good length. Delightful, very stylish, drink now.
