Friday, April 19, 2013 - From a high-quality co-operative with 280 members located in the Alto Adige village of Tramin. Whether you believe Gewürztraminer to have originated from Tramin or not, it is an undoubtedly historic area for the varietal and arguably at its very best in subzone of Söll which sits just above the village. Söll is where you'll find all the top Gewürztraminer cru in Alto Adige including Nussbaumer where the varietal has been cultivated for at least 700 years. A brief maceration on the skins contributes to the bright straw-yellow color. Fragrant but reticent on the nose with rose petal, cinnamon and tangerine. The wine contains 7 grams of residual sugar but it is dry in style. A superb pairing for white asparagus and a creative solution for many modern plates.
