Monday, May 19, 2014 - There is a good underlying structure to this Barolo, and it is well polished, which makes it drinkable today. Decanting is certainly beneficial as it is tight and showed better on the second day. (I kept pouring from the bottle over 5 hours, then just put the cork back on the half full bottle without any vacuum pump or argon gas, and placed it in the cellar. I drank over another 4 hours on the second day.)
It's rich with dark fruits, some rustic earth, and a hint of high quality balsamic vinegar.
While this was good, I just wasn't blown away. In fact, I was a little disappointed given its price point. Objectively, I thought it was about 92 points, but I want to be screaming at least 94 points when I pay this much.
