92 Points

Friday, May 11, 2012 - This wine retains a youthful appearance, with a deep-to-opaque ruby/red robe. It was Vinturi-decanted off its sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing two hours. The nose is immediately expressive of ripe black fruits, minerals, violets and a touch of eucalyptus. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, generous residual (ripe) tannins, well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.2%) and luscious black fruit-dominated flavors. The middle palate is solid and the finish is long and smooth. While very nice at this point, there is no doubt in my mind that those who hold well-cellared bottles of this wine will be rewarded for their patience. It is still very youthful and has the structure to accrue complexity over the next few years. 92+. Drink 1/14-12/22.
