Thursday, November 15, 2012 - As much as I rate Michelle (Villa Maria hasn't been the same since she left), I wasn't sure what to make of this wine. Maybe it was damaged in transport or storage. Or it was just made in this style. Of garnet colour with good concentration, the nose displays hallmark p.n. aromas of sois-bois, cinnamon and sandalwood balsamic tones, and good ripe strawberry fruit. It's big on the palate, a smooth pinot velvet dress, ripe red fruits again. Long finish with just a trace of heat. There's an old wood / kirsch stew element that stays with the finish. Not sure--- overripe fruit or flaw? Borderline... It just spoils the experience slightly and makes it poor value at 37 USD. The jury's out--- I'm sure Mrs. Richardson will soon return to form.
