Monday, December 3, 2012 - Recommended by Daniel Dawson of BackRoomWines.com. A nice wine as a "second wine" of the night. This one was a cuvee of 18% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Petit Verdot, 18% Syrah and 9% Tempranillo. The wine was uncorked to a nice nose of floral, fruit (blackberry and blueberry) and a very wild, "brambly" note that was unidentified. The wine was decanted for probably 30 minutes (our mistake) before enjoying. On the pour was a dark red wine with some violet hues. Aromatics on this wine were nice - truly Napa floor cuvee. There was some lilac and jasmine, yet a lot of blackberry was there too - the aromatics almost seemed as if this one was 50/50 cab/cab franc. On the entry was a full bodied wine that had some immediate dark fruit characteristics - some fig and chocolate mixed with that blackberry jam. In the mid-palate was some cocoa and leather, but that dark brambly fruit was there and in full force. The wine finished with a little heat, some oak barrel finish, but the entire wine was quite muted actually. I was very happy with the results of this one with minimal decanting but I still believe that this one could have shown a bit better with more time. This was my only bottle, and I have since sent an email to make sure I have a few more of these..............to enjoy in 2 yrs at a minimum. With proper decanting and time, this one easily has the complexity to be a 93-94.
