Friday, May 16, 2014 - Great dark color. Nose of black cherry, violets, hunt of vanilla ice cream. Mouth builds into dark fruit, moderate tannins, and nice spiciness. Finish lingers a bit. I've always loved this wine, but 2011 seems lighter and quicker than earlier years. This one lacks the rustiness and bold depth of earlier vintages. It's really good but seems to be a slight step back. But still yummy.
