Saturday, November 10, 2018 - 2018 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium – Kelly, RJ, Justin and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/7/2018-11/11/2018 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): The first sniff, it is one of the top five nose of my life. So youthful yet unbelievably complex nose displaying pure red fruit with a hint of black, raspberry, candied raspberry, black cherry, caramel, Vosne spices, a hint of stem, perfume, lavender, espresso bean, Tieguanyin, dark spices and limestone. Exceptional concentration yet airy and weightless, layers upon layers of pure raspberry and black cherry, incredible detail, precision and finesse, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, fully integrated tannins and the never pure raspberry and black cherry driven finish. This is perfect from the first sniff to the last sip. I can smell the emptied glass and the perfection lingers. Perhaps one of the top five wines of my life and it could be the greatest youthful wine. Remarkable harmony, balance and complexity. This alone makes the trip so memorable.
