Saturday, December 22, 2018 - Swampy at pop n pour. Hazelnut, aldehyde. Aldehyde goes away with a little time open. Palate still shows some oak spice. Receding, but still apparent in a greener wood grain note. Cheerios. Green Cheerios. 30 minutes open and this really firms up. Looses its initial laziness. Still, a more evolved example, but way in the pocket, opens up. Spice, Chinese five spice, but also some heavy grain notes to the finish.
Day 3 and lost a lot of verve. Grainy without and barrel spice. Graham cracker palate without the snap to balance it out. Shows some butteriness to the finish, a little sherried too. Could be an advanced bottle, but I’d say drink up.
