Monday, September 20, 2021 - St. Eden is always a favorite of mine within the Bond portfolio, and the 2010 does not disappoint. It needs a few hours of air to really open up, but then you find a deeply colored wine with a nose showing spicy black cherry compote, crushed mint, dark chocolate, walnuts. Really lovely and you could just swirl this and sniff it without actually drinking it and still be very happy! But on the palate extremely appealing, with a gentle softness that envelops a core of ripe yet not-sweet fruit, modest acidity, endless finish. Cory Empting made fantastic wines in 2010, and this is a good choice for your first bottle to open. Just becoming approachable now, and should be even better five years from now in 2026. This will have a very long life.
