Saturday, November 16, 2013 - My first taste of Rafanelli Zin was last year; in the middle of crush at the winery. Dave Rafanelli was loading merlot grapes on a beautiful remade old Chevy pickup with a forklift. It was a wonder, and one of the best new wines I had ever tasted. The 2011 is a bit disappointing so far, but my expectations were probably too high. Seems a bit thin and brick colored rather than the juicy, berry Zin I loved last year. Will decant the next one. Still a good wine...

After three years, I am willing to bet this will be a lot more to our liking and it will likely drink well until 2021. This is based on my previous Rafanelli Zinfandel experiences
