Thursday, January 10, 2013 - Had this wine several times over the past 10 years. It was very good almost in the middle of that time. This bottle had an incredible high filling level, the typical Haut Brion aromatics, but took very long time in the decanter to open up. Maybe we missed the best (as always) as the last siüp was the best. Probably when served right a lower 90 wine, but even though I love Haut-Brion, it by no means deserves the prices that are currently asked for. There are so many better wines in the world at a fraction of the price. They may have different aromatics, but maybe you buy the tar from a Barolo (50 $), the earthy feeling from a lesser chateau (maybe gruaud 83 at 70 $) and then you had two nice bottles as good as the Haut Brion and still 100$ left. Any better ideas welcome!
