Sunday, May 27, 2007 - This bottle was very good. The conventional wisdom is that this wine should have been drunk by several years ago, and I wouldn't disagree with that. It's a softer, gentler version of the great vintages, but there's still plenty of Haut-Brion goodness left, even after a couple of hours sitting in an open bottle. As a non-Bordeaux-drinker, I kind of appreciated the absence of tannins and the muted quality of the earthy and smokey flavors. I felt it made the wine's complexities, such as they are, somewhat easier to study. I'd enjoy drinking a few more bottles, if I had some in my cellar. I'd drink them within a year or two.
